Dr. Wathne was born and raised in New Jersey and did his orthopaedic training at the renowned Hospital for Joint Diseases — Orthopaedic Institute in New York City. He subsequently moved west and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Colorado in Denver and Boulder, where he provided orthopaedic care for athletes at the University of Colorado and University of Denver. He then started an orthopaedic private practice in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1995. His orthopaedic practice now primarily focuses on the treatment of shoulder, knee and sports medicine conditions both non-operatively and operatively. He has stayed at the forefront of surgery in these areas and enjoys caring for the people and athletes of eastern Idaho.

He loves living in Idaho with the easy access to the outdoors and its many beautiful areas. He participates in a variety of sports and is an avid biker and skier.
